Bryan Singer has worked hard on FOX’s X-Men franchise over the years, including Hugh Jackman’s debut as Wolverine in the 2000 movie. We know Jackman has just given his final performance as Logan for a third Wolverine movie, and he gifted something awesome to the director to commemorate his run as the character.
The gift is a set of custom comic book covers for The Uncanny X-Men with Jackman as Wolverine, and Singer as Charles Xavier (perhaps better known as Professor X). The covers are drawn by talented CCO of Marvel Comics, Joe Quesada. Some of the text reads the “third and final issue”, obviously referencing the third and final Wolverine movie.
The black and white take on the cover also includes a handwritten note from Jackman himself which reads:
It all started with you, bub! 1999-2016!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
This is a gift anybody would love, no doubt, but for somebody who’s directed five X-Men movies featuring Jackman? It means a lot to him.
Thank you so much @thehughjackman for commissioning the brilliant comic artist #joequesada to make these fantastic and very personal covers for me. I will cherish them and our long friendship and collaboration always! #xmen #wolverine #professorx #comics”
You can see Hugh Jackman in action as Wolverine in X-Men: Apocalypse, which is available on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 4th. The third Wolverine movie is set to drop on March 3rd, 2017.
