#OneLastTime says the announcement. Hugh Jackman’s final performance as the iconic Marvel superhero, Wolverine, has wrapped filming, at least for now, Screen Rant reports. The tentatively titled Wolverine 3 has spent most of the summer performing principal photography in New Mexico. Earlier reports from franchise producer Simon Kinberg discuss the upcoming film has featuring an R-Rated Old West flavor and New Mexico certainly lends itself to that description. Jackman himself took to Twitter to publicly thank the state for their time.

With 20th Century Fox’s own Deadpool becoming the talk of the lot, the third Wolverine stand-alone has managed to slip quietly under the radar for many. Little is known about the story (collaborated on by Jackman himself) aside from rumors that it may be taking inspiration from Weapon X and Old Man Logan. The latter seems quite likely as Jackman shared another photo on his Instagram account depicting himself during a night out to dinner. Not to mention reports from OLV have mentioned Jackman looking more like his normal self recently. Take that as a sign of an actor dedicated to a character’s attributes.
Not that Jackman needs any more goodwill. The actor is to Wolverine what Iron Man is to RDJ and fans of the clawed, Canadian mutant should start taking notice of the upcoming picture before the marketing starts to kick in. They certainly have much to look forward to. If this truly is to be Jackman’s swan song, then celebration is in order. The end of an era is imminent and the X-Men cinematic universe will never be the same.
Wolverine 3 reunites Jackman with The Wolverine director James Mangold as well as Patrick Stewart, reprising his role (reportedly also for the last time) as Professor Charles Xavier. The film is set for release on March 3rd, 2017.
