Hugh Jackman Still Not Up For Playing Wolverine Again

Marvel Harry Potter Daniel Radcliffe Hugh Jackman Wolverine Logan The Front Runner

It’s been a long ride for Hugh Jackman since first entering Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters in the first X-Men film way back in 2000. Since then, Jackman went on to appear in almost all of the X-Men films. He wasn’t in the first Deadpool film, the second film was just footage from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and if I was a betting man, he’s probably not in Dark Phoenix or The New Mutants. But Jackman went out on a high note with James Mangold’s Logan, as Logan sacrificed himself so Laura could escape.

Since then, Jackman has hung up his claws and while there are still some who hope to see him return, whether in a film like X-Force or even in the Marvel Cinematic Universe whenever this whole Disney acquisition of Fox is complete. But then, if you bring Hugh Jackman, you bring the history of the X-Men film series, so the door would probably be open for someone else from that series to appear. Perhaps, anyway. Regardless, Wolverine and Hugh Jackman are no more.

And since his departure from the X-Men films, Jackman continues to work to this day, and he’s currently doing press for his next project, The Front Runner, where he’ll play politician Gary Hart. During a recent interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Hugh Jackman was asked if he would play Wolverine again under the condition of it being in a Deadpool film directed by Jason Reitman, the director of The Front Runner.

Instantly, a laughing Hugh Jackman asked if this was a question put up by Ryan Reynolds, who has been pushing to get Jackman to appear in a Deadpool film. Still, Jackman expressed his love for the actor behind the Merc with the Mouth, but advised his X-Men friend to try harder than that. Here, have a look at Jackman answering the Wolverine question in the video below:

Well, it was worth a shot. Whoever ultimately ends up donning the claws and becoming Wolverine, one thing is for sure, it probably won’t be Hugh Jackman. But hey, Deadpool is nothing if not persistent, so we shall see.

What do you think? After Logan, would you want to see Jackman really step back into the Wolverine role? Let us know in the comments below.

Directed by Jason Reitman, The Front Runner stars Hugh Jackman, Vera Farmiga, J.K. Simmons, Alfred Molina, Bill Burr, Sara Paxton, Mike Judge, Toby Huss, Ari Graynor, John Bedford Lloyd, Spencer Garrett, and Courtney Ford. The film is set to hit theaters on November 6, 2018.
