Sebastian Stan, who is known for playing James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes/The Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe recently appeared on a panel during the ACE Comic Con alongside his co-stars Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie. During the panel, Stan discussed Hugh Jackman’s potential return with the X-Men in the MCU and briefly commented on a potential match-up between the Avengers and the Justice League.
Regarding Jackman returning with the X-Men, Stan discussed that he recently sat next to Jackman and mentioned that they both had a small conversation about the future possibilities with the X-Men and the Avengers given the Disney/Fox merger.
“[…]I didn’t know what other awkward thing I could talk about but to be like, ‘Am I going to see you soon?’ I don’t know. But he said a couple of things to me and I’ll just leave it at that. Otherwise, I feel like I’m going to get into trouble with somebody. I asked him because I kept thinking he said whether or not that was, Logan, was supposed to be the last Wolverine thing or whatever and he said to me, well I think he publicly said out there, which was like he’s been thinking about it and it’s been on his mind. So, I don’t, he may be.”
Logan ended on a particularly finite note for the titular character. If Jackman were to return even after publicly expressing that the film was his last hurrah as Wolverine, it would be interesting to see him interact with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes but would in-turn erase the impact that Logan had.
Stan, Evans and Mackie were also asked about having the Avengers go head-to-head against the Justice League, to which Stan humorously responded:
To be fair, the friendly rivalry between Marvel and DC has existed for years, and continues to occur with both the MCU and the DC Extended Universe. However, objectively speaking with Superman alongside the Justice League, his presence alone would give the League a significant advantage so maybe Stan should watch his words.
Justice League is in theaters now. Meanwhile, Stan will next be seen in Avengers: Infinity War. Here is the synopsis:
“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.”
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Sebastian Stan, Chadwick Boseman, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Tom Hiddleston, Tessa Thompson, Benicio Del Toro, Danai Gurira and Josh Brolin.
