Although The Dark Tower was intended to launch a film and television franchise, the negative reviews and poor domestic box office performance of the adaptation has left the future of those plans in a state of uncertainty for audiences. In an interview with ScreenCrush, star Idris Elba revealed that he is also unaware of what the future holds for The Dark Tower series and his character, the Gunslinger.
After being made aware of author Stephen King’s suggestion that the planned television series could be a reboot, Idris Elba was asked if the series would be connected to the recent film and if the Gunslinger would be involved, to which Elba replied:
“You know what? I didn’t know Steven said that. I don’t know, actually, where it lies. I must figure this out, I don’t know where it lies. I’m unfortunately the last to know at this point.”
