The first trailer for Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel introduces audiences to the MCU’s Kamala Khan.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand. Iman Vellani is set to spearhead Disney Plus’ upcoming Ms. Marvel series, which focuses on young Avengers super-fan Kamala Khan. Khan eventually develops her own powers and becomes the defender of Jersey City all the while struggling with high school and familial responsibilities.

Marvel Studios has debuted the first trailer for the Disney Plus series. The first trailer shows Kamala Khan developing her powers and struggling in high school, where she’s known as the resident Avengers fan and an avid daydreamer. Set to The Weeknd’s “Blinding Light”, the trailer emphasizes the cosmic nature of Khan’s powers, which are different from her “stretchy” abilities in the comic books.

The first poster for the series has also been revealed.

Here is the synopsis for the Marvel series:

Marvel Studios’ “Ms. Marvel” is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?

Ms. Marvel stars Iman Vellani, Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Fawad Khan, and Mehwish Hayat.

Ms. Marvel hits Disney Plus on June 8. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan and the future of the MCU on the big screen and small screen, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
