Reddit user esgeo may have spotted a Captain Marvel reference in the Iron Man 2.
Captain Marvel will transport audiences back to the ’90s before Tony Stark made his debut as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Carol Danvers will encounter some familiar faces when she returns to Earth, including Nick Fury and Phil Coulson. Now, one fan suggests that Coulson may actually be referring to Captain Marvel during an exchange in which the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent informs Tony that the organization may not depend on him as much as the billionaire believes.
In all likelihood, the comment could just be a dig at Iron Man’s expense but what do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
Fans can see Carol Danvers meet the S.H.I.E.L.D. team when her solo movie hits theaters next month.
Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.
Captain Marvel will be released in theaters on March 8, 2019.
