‘Iron Man 2’ Actor Arrested For Selling Fake Coronavirus Cure

Iron Man 2 actor Keith Middlebrook has been arrested by the FBI for allegedly attempting to sell a fake cure for the coronavirus.

Keith Middlebrook, who portrayed an Expo Cop in Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 2, has been charged with fraud for allegedly seeking investments for a company called Quantum Prevention CV Inc., which he claimed would be used to market pills that could prevent COVID-19 infections and a shot to cure the coronavirus. The Iron Man 2 actor was arrested on Wednesday following a meeting with an undercover FBI agent posing as a potential investor.

On Friday, a decision about whether or not a bond will be set for Keith Middlebrook will be made. Furthermore, U.S. Attorney Nick Hanna made the following statement urging people to be wary of scams amid the coronavirus pandemic:

“During these difficult days, scams like this are using blatant lies to prey upon our fears and weaknesses. While this may be the first federal criminal case in the nation stemming from the pandemic, it certainly will not be the last. I again am urging everyone to be extremely wary of outlandish medical claims and false promises of immense profits. And to those who perpetrate these schemes, know that federal authorities are out in force to protect all Americans, and we will move aggressively against anyone seeking to cheat the public during this critical time.”

As of now, a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 9th while an arraignment is set for April 16th. For the charges he is facing, Keith Middlebrook could face up to 20 years in prison.
