Look no further for the next actor to step into the role of Alfred Pennyworth. The Batman prequel series has found its lead in the form of English actor Jack Bannon. The Pennyworth series, set to begin production next week at Warner Bros. Studios in the United Kingdom, will have 10 episodes and be under the watchful eye of Gotham producers and creators Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon, who will direct the series pilot.
Jack Bannon joins a long list of actors who have stepped into the Batman role, including, currently, Sean Pertwee, who portrays Alfred on Gotham, and Jeremy Irons, who portrays Alfred on the film side of things in the DC Extended Universe. We now have another Alfred on the DC side of things, and with fans able to embrace the concept of a multiverse, now we wait and see how Jack Bannon will step into the shoes of Batman’s most trusted butler.
Based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, the 10-episode, hour-long drama series will follow Alfred Pennyworth as he forms a security company and goes to work with a young billionaire named Thomas Wayne in 1960s London after his time as British SAS soldier. Production is set to begin on October 22 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the United Kingdom. Cannon will direct the pilot episode of the series.
Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the upcoming Alfred Pennyworth series with Jack Bannon.
