Today, Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli, and Daniel Craig announced that True Detective director Cary Joji Fukunaga will helm the 25th James Bond film. Now, fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the latest filmmaker chosen to direct the next 007 adventure.
The search for a new director to helm the 25th James Bond film began after Danny Boyle left the project over creative differences, which reportedly involved disputes over the film’s villain. Now, Cary Joji Fukunaga has become the first American filmmaker to direct a James Bond film and fans seem to be thrilled with the decision to bring him on board for the project.
Known for directing the first season of HBO’s True Detective and the acclaimed film Beasts of No Nation, fans appear to be confident that Cary Joji Fukunaga will bring a fresh vision to the franchise and are eager to see his take on the character. In fact, a number of fans believe that Cary Joji Fukunaga is a better choice to direct the next James Bond film than Danny Boyle while others stated that they wish the filmmaker could have directed the first installment with Daniel Craig’s successor.

Cary Fukunaga directing the new #JamesBond fim is great news.
True Detective S01, Sin Nombre and Beasts of No Nation are great, but I kinda wish he was helming the franchise for the new Bond after Craig. pic.twitter.com/HH5Qof7WgS— Skel-ector 💀 (@HectorNavarro_) September 20, 2018

This announcement has me more excited than Danny Boyle one. Hopefully the producers will allow Cary to bring his vision without any interference. 🤞🏽#JamesBond https://t.co/GNGZtDf5Iy

That’s the same Cary Fukunaga of True Detective, Beasts Of No Nation and nearly-directing IT fame.
I’ll be watching his new Netflix show (starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill) with even more interest.
Very, very interesting. https://t.co/kdk7C0wUkS
