James Cameron’s Avatar has already earned nearly $900K upon its re-release in international markets.

Back in 2009, James Cameron’s Avatar hit theaters and made history. While some have questioned the quality of the plot and story, the film went on to become the highest-grossing film of all time. Thanks to a number of releases the movie has maintained that title, even against box office juggernauts like Avengers: Endgame. Now, at long last, a sequel is set to hit theaters later this year. Before this happens, however, Disney is allowing audiences to experience the world of Pandora in theaters once again.

The Movie That Keeps Making Money

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Avatar would be released in theaters once again before its sequel Avatar: The Way of Water hits theaters this December. The film has already made waves having nearly made $900K in various international markets. These markets include France, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, and the Philippines. The film also opened Mexico, Brazil, Italy, and Germany today and will be in theaters in the United States on Friday.

Here is the synopsis for the next film in the franchise, Avatar: The Way of Water:

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

Directed by James Cameron from a script he co-wrote with Josh Friedman, the sequel stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi, and Kate Winslet.

Avatar: The Way of Water hits theaters on December 16, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of the franchise and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
