Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director, James Gunn, has confirmed that there will be a post-credits scene via Twitter.
“All I’ll say is, unless you have to rush out because your mother is dying, stay through the entire end credits,” Gunn writes.

At this point, Marvel not having a post-credits scene would be the real surprise. These short, but key scenes, usually involve details and characters that tie in to whatever the next Marvel movie is. Most of the time, however, the post-credits scenes involve the Infinity Stones. This storyline will see the end of its run in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War and, this is speculation, will be probably be at the center of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 post-credits scene.
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Micheal Rooker, Kurt Russell, and the voices of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
The film is in theaters May 5, 2017.
