Despite the fact that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hasn’t been released in US theaters yet, James Gunn is already working on the sequel. James Gunn announced just a few weeks ago that’d he’d be returning to write and direct the third film, but it looks like he had already begun writing by that point.

In an interview with USA Today, James Gunn and the Guardians cast revealed writing behind Vol. 3 has commenced. Apparently, Chris Pratt is also involved in the writing process for the third film, while Zoe Saldana will be doing consulting for her character Gamora.

Any guesses as to the plot of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are nearly impossible as the film will be set after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither) And stars Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby), Chris Sullivan (The Knick) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight).
