Gunn was approached by Disney Imagineers about a year and a half prior to the grand opening of Mission: Breakout!. Although he is a professional filmmaker, Gunn had to jump at the opportunity.
In a recent post on his official Facebook page, Gunn reflected on the experiences he had collaborating with the Imagineers in bringing Mission: Breakout! to life. He thanks them for their hard work and dedication in giving the Guardians a new home at the Disneyland Resort. Gunn also shares that some of his early childhood memories were his trips to Disneyland with his family.
When Mission: Breakout! officially opened yesterday, wait times to queue for the new thrill ride were as long as seven hours. The line was so long, that it can be traced back towards Buena Vista Street, which serves as the main entrance at Disney California Adventure Park.

For those planning on riding the attraction, it sure looks like you are going to need to be at the park first thing in the morning to get in line. After all, this is the first U.S. Disney theme park attraction featuring Marvel characters – the first of many, actually.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! is now open at Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA.
Meanwhile, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is in theaters now.
