James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is rumored to be slated for a release in the summer of 2022.
Several months after Disney fired James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 over controversial social media post that was unearthed by far-right commentators, the company reinstated the filmmaker for the third and final chapter of Marvel Studios space saga. However, James Gunn had already committed to writing and directing The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. and DC, meaning Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘s production scheduled and release date had to be pushed back.
During Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige reaffirmed plans for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but a release date for the film as not announced during the event. Now, Charles Murphy alleges James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 6, 2022, though this date is said to be subject to change.
Always subject to change and still much we don't know:
Phase 5, V2
Feb 18, 2022-Black Panther 2
May 6, 2022-GotG Vol. 3
July 29, 2022-
May 3 or 10, 2024-😮

While production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was scheduled to begin early this year, the project was put on hold following the decision to remove Gunn as the director of the final chapter in the trilogy. Now, James Gunn will begin production on the third Guardians of the Galaxy film after completing work on The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. and DC. Details on the third and final chapter of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy are currently unknown, though the film will likely explore the ramifications of the universe-changing events in Avengers: Endgame.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sean Gunn.
