About a week after revealing the official cast list for The Suicide Squad, writer/director James Gunn reveals that he is already shooting the highly-anticipated DC Comics film.
In the comments section of one of his Instagram posts, James Gunn replied to a fan asking him if production on the upcoming film was set to start this Monday. James Gunn replied back, revealing that as of the posting of his comment, he is already filming The Suicide Squad:

James Gunn signed on to write and direct The Suicide Squad sometime after Disney cut ties with him in 2018 after several inappropriate tweets from the past resurfaced. After getting kicked off of his directing duties for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, he hopped over to Warner Bros. and DC Films for this new take on The Suicide Squad. Disney later reinstated James Gunn to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which he will direct after he finishes work on this new DC Extended Universe film.

The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker. James Gunn is expected to deliver on the fresh take on the supervillain team in his upcoming movie.
