James Gunn On Whether All Trailer Songs Will Be In ‘Guardians 2’

'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2': Director James Gunn on whether of not all of the film trailers' songs will be included on the soundtrack.

One of the best things about Guardians of the Galaxy was the soundtrack. After all, mixtapes have been a big part of its selling point and within the framework of the film itself.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 isn’t holding back on its repertoire of great songs, either. In fact, it may be upping its game, as heard in the official trailer for the sequel.

On Twitter, director James Gunn was asked whether or not all of the trailer songs will be on the film’s soundtrack. Gunn said that, although he wishes they all were, some won’t be making it into the movie.

“All of them are from my short lists for songs I’d LIKE to fit in the movie. But not all of them are in the movie…”

The film stars Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket; Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, and Kurt Russell as Star-Lord’s father.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be in theaters May 5, 2017.
