Suicide Squad director James Gunn is set to appear as himself in a Harley Quinn season 3 cameo.

James Gunn made his DC debut last year with Suicide Squad, which critics and audiences heralded as one of the finest films in the superhero genre. Gunn returned to the DC Extended Universe earlier this year with Peacemaker, an HBO Max spin-off series based on John Cena’s patriotic hero from Suicide Squad. Now, the director is set to return to the ever-expanding DC franchise but now how you might think!

It was announced earlier this week that Suicide Squad and Peacemaker helmer James Gunn would be appearing as himself in the upcoming third season of Harley Quinn, which is currently available to stream on HBO Max. In the animated series, Gunn is set to direct a biopic on Thomas Wayne.

The filmmaker took to Twitter to share his excitement over the upcoming cameo appearance and praise Harley Quinn, a show he clearly appears to be a fan of.

The animated HBO Max series features the voice talents of Kaley Cuoco as Dr. Harleen Quinzel / Harley Quinn, Lake Bell as Dr. Pamela Isley / Poison Ivy, Diedrich Bader as Bruce Wayne / Batman, Alan Tudyk as Joker, Ron Funches, Wanda Sykes, Natalie Morales, Jim Rash, Giancarlo Esposito, Jason Alexander, J. B. Smoove, Tony Hale as Dr. Edgar Cizko / Doctor Psycho, Christopher Meloni as Commissioner James Gordon, Rahul Kohli as Dr. Jonathan Crane / Scarecrow, Sanaa Lathan as Catwoman and Alfred Molina as Mr. Freeze.

The first two seasons of Harley Quinn are available on HBO Max. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news on the third season of the series, James Gunn’s work in the DC Extended Universe, and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel!
