James Gunn took to social media to offer fans a first look at Krypto the Superdog, officially revealing the beloved DC Comics character alongside David Corenswet’s Superman. This marks the introduction of Superman’s iconic canine companion in the DC Universe, which kicks off with the premiere of the MAX animated series Creature Commandos this December.
Krypto the Superdog made his first appearance in Adventure Comics #210 in March 1955, created by writer Otto Binder and artist Curt Swan. Originally introduced as Superman’s loyal pet from the planet Krypton, Krypto possesses the same superpowers as his owner, including flight, super strength, and enhanced senses.
Over the years, Krypto has appeared in various comic storylines, animated series, and adaptations, becoming a beloved companion to both Superman and Superboy in the DC Universe. Most recently, Krypto was seen in live-action on the TV series Titans.
