Director James Gunn shared a photo of The Suicide Squad gift he received as production begins.
After David Ayer’s Suicide Squad opened to box office success but mixed reviews, Warner Bros. opted to change course on a follow-up and enlisted James Gun to craft a new take on the supervillain team. Now, production on The Suicide Squad is currently underway and James Gunn took to his official Instagram account to share a photo of the gift he received from his agent/friend.
The gift in question was a copy of The Brave and the Bold, in which the Suicide Squad made their debut. Created by writer Robert Kanigher and artist Ross Andru, this incarnation of the Suicide Squad consisted of Rick Flag Jr., Karen Grace, Dr. Hugh Evans, and Jess Bright.

Production on James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is scheduled to take place in Atlanta, Georgia, for three months. After that, James Gunn and The Suicide Squad team will head to Panama to continue filming.
The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker. James Gunn is expected to deliver on the fresh take on the supervillain team in his upcoming movie.
