It seems that James Wan is playing coy about the rumors surrounding the Aquaman spinoff that will focus on The Trench.
During a Twitter exchange, a user was talking about how a movie revolving around The Trench would be similar to the films of The Conjuring universe. Specifically, he cited how the producers take one creepy object and/or monster that was featured in one of the main films and center an entier movie around it. And with the Conjuring films, sometimes you get a surprsie hits like Annabelle: Creation and duds like…well Annabelle. And if rumors are to be believed, Warner Bros. may be taking a similar approach with The Trench.
In response to this Tweet and other rumors, James Wan stated that during the early stages of preproduction he fell in love with The Trench and hoped to explore this aspect of the Aquaman universe more. He then stated that he was not confirming or denying that the project was in development with a wink.
