Return to Atlantis
Although much of the discussion surrounding the Aquaman sequel has been tied to the controversies surrounding Amber Heard following her heavily-publicized defamation trial against ex-husband Johnny Depp, fans are still looking forward to yet another adventure with Jason Momoa. In particular, the opportunity to see him embark on an adventure with Patrick Wilson will certainly be an interesting dynamic, given that their characters tried to kill each other in the previous film.
Here is the synopsis for the sequel:
“Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.”
Directed by James Wan, the upcoming sequel stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Temuera Morrison as Arthur Curry, Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin, Vincent Regan as Atlan, Jani Zaho as Stingray, Indya Moore as Karshon, and Game of Thrones star Pilou Asbæk in an unknown role.
