Jason Momoa On The First Time He Put On The Classic Aquaman Costume

Aquaman DC Comics Jason Momoa

Jason Momoa recently discussed the first time he put on the classic Aquaman costume and said it blew James Wan and his children away.

Aquaman hits theaters in a few weeks and the first official reactions for the film are great. The cast and crew are doing press rounds for the film, and I recently attended the film’s press conference in New York City. During the conference, I got to hear the cast and director gush about the film and even got to see Jason Momoa freak out by how accurate his Aquaman wax figure is.

While at the Aquaman press conference, Jason Momoa was asked about the first time he put on the classic costume and he says it was a pretty emotional moment between him and the film’s director, James Wan.

“The best part about wearing the suit… my first experience wearing the suit, it was really beautiful and I’ve actually never told James Wan this. I put it on, I didn’t have a mirror, and I come out of wardrobe and get to see his face. He’s always extremely passionate and lets you know right away. But the absolute joy… he looked like a kid… he beamed, ‘I did it.’ He was super proud, and he didn’t have to say anything, I could see it on his face.”

James Wan wasn’t the only one who was filled with emotion as Jason Momoa describes the first time his kids got to see him in the suit.

“The second moment I facetimed my kids, and I took a picture of it too, and their eyes were blown away.”

Do you guys like that they went with a comic accurate costume? Are you excited to Aquaman when it hits theaters? Sound off in the comments section below.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.

Aquaman will be released in theaters on December 21, 2018.
