Aquaman star Jason Momoa recently said that he has seen the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League.
During an interview with MTV News’ Joshua Horowitz, Jason Momoa was asked about whether or not he was indebted to his Justice League director Zack Snyder, who cast him as Aquaman. Jason Momoa reaffirmed his gratitude to Zack Snyder, and when asked about his cut of Justice League, the Aquaman star confirmed that he has seen the elusive Zack Snyder cut.
Horowitz assumed that the cut that Aquaman star Jason Momoa saw had unfinished special effects and alternate takes, to which Jason Momoa perked up, insinuating that the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League may be more finished than many were led to initially believe. When asked about if this version of the film will ever be officially released, Jason Momoa had some encouraging words for fans:
“I think the public needs to see it. You know, I’m obviously indebted to Warner Bros. and DC. I don’t know how they feel about it, but as a fan, I’m very, very happy that I got to see it.”
Justice League was primarily directed by Zack Snyder in 2016 right after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opened in theaters. But after the negative critical reception to that film, the script was updated to add more humor and lightheartedness as opposed to the more dreary tone adopted from the previous two films. Zack Snyder then left the project due to a family tragedy and Avengers helmer Joss Whedon came in to oversee reshoots and post-production on the film.
Jason Momoa is expected to reprise his role as Aquaman in the character’s second cinematic solo outing. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is working on the script for Aquaman 2 and James Wan expected to return to the director’s chair. For now, fans can rewatch Jason Momoa as Aquaman in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
Justice League is now available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Zack Snyder, Jason Momoa, Aquaman and the rest of the Justice League members.
