Jeff Goldblum Talks Possible Return As Grandmaster In ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’

Jeff Goldblum discussed the possibility of returning to play the Grandmaster in Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder.

Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the helmer of the fourth film in series subtitled Love and Thunder. Due to be released in roughly two years, Thor: Love and Thunder will reunite Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman in addition to featuring the return of Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie.

However, there has been no official word on whether or not Jeff Goldblum will reprise his role as the eccentric and hedonistic ruler of Sakaar known as the Grandmaster. When asked about the Grandmaster’s possible return for Thor: Love and Thunder at Disney’s D23 Expo, Jeff Goldblum simply stated that he would love to work with Taika Waititi again:

“I can’t give away any secrets and there’s been rumblings, whisperings, and I know nothing. I can’t say any more than that. But I’ll tell ya, I would love to. I love that character. I loved working with Taika Waititi, especially, he’s a brilliant director, and Kevin Feige, and Louis D’esposito, and Victoria Alonso. The people at Marvel are great. They know how to make a movie and it’s a very pleasent experience. They’re very kind. And, you know, I love that cast. I wanna do something with Taika, sure.”

When it was suggested the Grandmaster should wield Thor’s hammer, Jeff Goldblum simply reacted with awe and started singing the classic song “If I Had a Hammer” by Pete Seeger and Lee Hays.

Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster was last seen being surrounded by the subject he once ruled before they revolted. Would you like to see Jeff Goldblum return as the Grandmaster in Thor: Love and Thunder? Let us know in the comments section below!

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and Natalie Portman. The film will be based on Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic book run, with Portman’s Jane Foster set to become the new Thor.

Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 5, 2021.
