Jeffrey Dean Morgan says he’s still wants to play Batman in a Flashpoint film if DC had more continuity.

Although Matt Reeves is delivering The Batman starring Robert Pattinson in the next few years, Jeffrey Dean Morgan says he’s still up for playing the Thomas Wayne Batman in a Flashpoint film. Just for those not aware of Flashpoint in the comics, Barry Allen changed the past to save his Mother – inadvertently making monumental changes to the present. The Flashpoint reality saw Bruce Wayne dying, and Thomas Wayne becoming Batman out of grief. Since Jeffrey Dean Morgan played Thomas Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, he’d be perfect to bring Flashpoint Batman to the screen.

In a new interview with ComicBook.com, Jeffrey Dean Morgan explained that Flashpoint is his favorite story and that he’d love to do it. But the actor also recognizes that DC have some continuity issues, and once they get things back on course, he’d love to star as Flashpoint Batman. Read Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s comments below to see how enthusiastic he is about the role.

“Look, I don’t know, I mean if there’s a chance that would ask me, I’d say yes. I think the Flashpoint story is, it’s my favorite story. I would love to do it. But, you know, DC is DC and they’re, you know, it’s a constant… it seems like they’re always kinda switching up who’s running it and what they’re gonna do. So hopefully, what I’d like to see is a little continuity with DC, have them get on the track, and then, man I’d be honored and love to do it more than anything.”

Plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and features a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that reportedly includes Catwoman and the Penguin. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Cyborg, Supergirl, New Gods, and Nightwing.

The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
