‘The Batman’: Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon Mustache Revealed In New Photo

A newly-surfaced photo offers fans their first look at Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon mustache for The Batman.

One of the most iconic characteristics of the DC Comics character Jim Gordon, the eventual commissioner of Gotham City, is his mustache. Rocked by the likes of the previous actors who brought Jim Gordon to life on the big screen such as J.K Simmons and Gary Oldman, it would have been surprising if Jeffrey Wright’s rendition of the character didn’t have one.

Jeffrey Wright, who is set to play Jim Gordon in The Batman, is well known for sporting a beard, so a mustache probably wasn’t a daunting task for him to take on. In new photo shared on Twitter, Jeffrey Wright can seen with his beard shaved off, with a Jim Gordon-style mustache. In the tweet, you can also see what The Batman star Jeffrey Wright looked like with a full beard.

Details regarding this new take on Jim Gordon are slim. It’s currently unclear what role Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon has in the Gotham Police Department. Seeing as The Batman will focus on a younger Bruce Wayne, it’s hard to imagine that Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon will already be the Commissioner of the GCPD.

Jeffrey Wright was one of the first actors who signed on for The Batman, meaning he’s had quite some time to prepare for the role of Jim Gordon. With his beard shaved off and his mustache on, it’s almost certain that the actor has begun to shoot his scenes with Robert Pattinson for The Batman, which is currently shooting in the United Kingdom. With filming only just getting started for The Batman, here’s hoping that we get an official look at Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon from the film soon.

Full plot details on The Batman are being kept under lock and key, but we know that the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and feature a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, the film stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman opens in theaters on June 25, 2021.
