Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner shared his reaction to the first trailer for Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow.

The fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will kick-off with Black Widow, a standalone film centered on Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff. Today, Marvel Studios released the first official trailer for Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and offered fans their first glimpse at the action-packed film.

Response to the Black Widow trailer has been generally positive and Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner took to his official Twitter account to share his own reaction. In his post, Jeremy Renner expressed his belief that Black Widow will be “amazing” and enthusiastically supported Scarlett Johansson.

Jeremy Renner himself is set to take the lead himself in a Hawkeye series due to premiere on Disney Plus in Fall 2021. Full details on Hawkeye are currently under wraps, though the series will follow Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton as he prepares to pass the mantle to Kate Bishop. In the comics, Kate Bishop is the third character and first woman to assume the Hawkeye name.

Full plot details on Marvel Studios’ Black Widow are currently under wraps, though it has been revealed that the film is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War and will see Scarlett Johansson’s Nathasha Romanoff take on the villainous Taskmaster. The film will also mark the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of Yelena Belova, the second modern-era character to use the Black Widow title in the comics.

Directed by Cate Shortland from a script written by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson, Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, Ray Winstone, Olivier Richters, and Rachel Weisz.

Black Widow will be released in theaters on May 1, 2020.
