JK Simmons recently opened up on whether fans can expect to see J. Jonah Jameson appear in future Marvel movies.

Fans were shocked to see JK Simmons reprise his role as the editor of The Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson, during the first post-credits scene in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but it seems the star isn’t quite done with the Marvel role just yet. Obviously the character’s changed slightly since his role in the Sam Raimi trilogy, with The Daily Bugle becoming a conspiracy blog rather than a trusted publication. During an interview on The Jess Cagle Show, Simmons revealed what fans can expect from the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Well yeah that’s the short answer. There is a future for J. Jonah Jameson after a several year hiatus, obviously I showed up very briefly for those who were wise enough to stay through the end credits in Far From Home. There was a brief JJJ appearance there and assuming movie theaters reopen and people are back in movie theaters sometime in the next whenever, and if not I guess we’ll see it on our TVs at home. There is one more JJJ appearance in the can and from what I’m hearing there is a plan for yet another one. So hopefully JJJ will continue now and forever.”

JK Simmons had previously revealed that he’s signed on for more Marvel appearances, explaining that it’s great to have the opportunity to return to the role. But when jokingly asked if he’d like to see a spin-off involving the character, Simmons explained that he prefers playing “less is more” characters, with J. Jonah being one of them.

“You know what? I’ll tell you, that’s one of those less is more characters. That’s the kind of character I like.”
