The Joker has seen better days!

New photos from the set of Joker: Folie a Deux show Joaquin Phoenix back in character as Arthur Fleck. The photos, which were taken in New York City, show Fleck looking disheveled and worn out, as if he has been through a lot since the events of the first movie.

The Joker: Folie a Deux photos show Arthur Fleck in a suit that is dirty and covered in ash, suggesting that he may have been in some sort of accident or disaster. The remnants of his face paint suggest that he has been up to no good, but the fact that it is partially smeared away could also indicate that he is losing control.

Joker followed Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck as he transformed into the Clown Prince of Crime and Folie á Deux now looks set to show Harleen Quinzel following him into madness, with Lady Gaga playing the DC Comics villain. Phoenix earned an Oscar for his work as The Joker.

What can audiences expect from the Joker sequel?

After the first film ended with Arthur Fleck in Arkham State Hospital, it’s likely that – as in previous iterations – Harleen Quinzel will start out as the Joker’s psychiatrist. Plot details are being kept under wraps but the a significant chunk of the sequel is expected to take place in Arkham.
