Joaquin Phoenix Joker Todd Phillips Oscar

A new video for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker reminds fans there’s only one month till release.

After Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker received an eight-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival, fans are more excited than ever to see the actor’s take on the legendary Clown Prince of Crime. A new video reminds audiences that there’s only one month left till the film’s release – showcasing Joaquin Phoenix as both Arthur Fleck and the psychotic clown, in a flickering haze that blurs the lines between the two. If the reception at Venice Film Festival is to be believed, Joker could be game-changing for the comic book genre.

The video actually takes its cue from the original teaser video that first showed of Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck and Joker. This time the blurring of Joaquin Phoenix’s two looks in Joker is much heavier, before it’s indistinguishable and cuts to a shot of Joker grinning maniacally at the camera. His performance is already being praised by critics as flawless, is it possible Joaquin Phoenix might finally win an Oscar? Watch the video below.

Here is the official synopsis for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker:

Director Todd Phillips’ Joker centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.

Directed by Todd Phillips from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham.

The film will be released in theaters on October 4, 2019.
