Joe Manganiello On The Future Of Deathstroke In ‘The Batman’

Joe Manganiello has revealed that he does have more information regarding whether or not he will portray Deathstroke in the upcoming DCEU film The Batman.

The original script from Ben Affleck and DC creative chief officer Geoff Johns featured Deathstroke as the main villain, however, the film’s new director Matt Reeves recently confirmed the project would be starting over with a completely new story. Joe Manganiello was originally set to star as the super villain but it remains unclear whether or not this will still be the case. The actor previously revealed that he wasn’t positive whether or not he would still be in the film but this has not yet been confirmed one way or the other.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Joe Manganiello was asked whether or not he had any more information regarding the status of the character and his inclusion in the film. Manganiello remained tight-lipped but did reveal that he know’s everything. He just can’t share any of it:

“I don’t. Well, I do but nothing that I can share. I know everything but I can’t say any of it.”

When asked whether or not his response was said in a happy or a downtrodden way, Joe Manganiello did little to offer hope that he’s still in the mix:

“[Pause.] I’m shooting for a neutral tone.”

Joe Manganiello was probed further as to when fans can expect to find out one way or the other but still did little to inspire any confidence:

“It’s not up to me. That’s a good question for Warner Bros. and D.C.”

With The Batman, Reeves has said that the film has to sync up with his vision for the character for him to feel confident in his choices is to make a film that he believes in but the director has not ruled out the possibility of Deathstroke as the villain. Reeves has only revealed that the new script will draw inspiration from The Dark Knight trilogy as it features a noir-driven detective story.
