Joe Manganiello Researching Deathstroke For Ben Affleck’s ‘Batman’

Just a few weeks ago, it was revealed that True Blood star Joe Manganiello had been officially tapped to bring Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke to life in the DC Extended Universe as he will be appearing in Ben Affleck’s Batman solo film which Affleck will be directing. The announcement came a few weeks after Affleck had released a cryptic video showcasing someone sporting the Deathstroke armor from London.

Manganiello tweeted out a photo today that he is gearing up to portray the famous villain, with research material which you can see below. One of the books lying under the Slade Wilson Funko is Volume 1 of Geoff Johns’ Batman: Earth One graphic novel which re-tells the origin of the Dark Knight in a new light.

UPDATE: Manganiello has tweeted out another photo with even more research material for Deathstroke as we get a good look at what Deathstroke related books he is reading, which includes DC Rebirth’s Deathstroke series, Teen Titans material and more.

In a recent interview, Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes spoke about Affleck’s upcoming film on the Caped Crusader and what the time frame is for the project.

“Ben announced a Batman movie [that] he’s going to direct, star, write for – I think it’s a year and a half out. So, the strategy worked.”

In case you missed it: Affleck’s video of Deathstroke from a couple of weeks ago, fully suited up.

Ben Affleck’s untitled Batman solo film is being written by Affleck and DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns (co-head of DC Films) – the film hasn’t gotten an official release date yet.
