Cruella Disney Joel Fry Emma Stone Game Of Thrones

Disney has cast Game of Thrones alum Joel Fry opposite Emma Stone in Cruella.

Disney’s slate of live-action films is set to include an origin story for 101 Dalmatians villain Cruella De Vil, with Emma Stone starring as the titular character. In the original film, Cruella dispatched two underlings to carry out her work and now Game of Thrones Joel Fry has been cast as one those lackeys.

Joel Fry, who portrayed Hizdahr zo Loraq in HBO’s Game of Thrones, joins Emma Stone in the role of Jasper while Paul Walter Hauser has been cast as Horace. Details on the role Joel Fry and Paul Walter Hauser’s characters will play in the Disney film are unknown, though the characters were portrayed as bumbling criminals in the animated version.

In addition to his work on Game of Thrones, Joel Fry’s screen credits include a supporting role the recently released Yesterday, a romantic comedy about a musician who inexplicably wakes up in a universe where The Beatles never existed.

Based on a novel by Dodie Smith, the original 101 Dalmatians centered on the eponymous group of pups as they attempted to find their way home after being kidnapped by Cruella De Vil and her cohorts, who wanted to skin them with the intention of making a new fur coat. Disney remade the film as a live-action feature in 1996 with acclaimed actress Glenn Close as Cruella.

Directed by Craig Gillespie from a script Tony McNamara, Disney’s Cruella stars Emma Stone, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, and Emma Thompson.

Disney’s Cruella is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 23, 2020.
