‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’: John Boyega Suits Up In New Set Photos

Pacific Rim Guillermo del Toro

Very little is known about the highly anticipated Pacific Rim: Uprising. Besides the fact that it is a sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 Pacific Rim and that Charlie Hunnam is not returning, not many details have been shared.

One thing we do know though is that John Boyega is starring. And today, thanks to the website john-boyega.org, we got to see some new set pictures of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor wearing his blue Jaeger gear, jumping out and running away from what looks like one of the Jaegers with blue screen behind him. You can look at some of the Pacific Rim pics below and look at all the pictures taken here.

Boyega is set to play the son of Marshal Stacker Pentecost (played by Idris Elba) who sacrificed himself in the first installment. The Pacific Rim sequel will also star Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, Jing Tian and Nick E. Tarabay.

And although we don’t have details about the movie plot, Guillermo del Toro did give a general idea of where the sequel could go back in 2014.

“It’s a few years after the first one. It’s not an immediate follow-up. It is the world having been freed of Kaiju, what happens to the world after – what happens to the Jaeger technology once the Kaiju are not a threat. It’s quite a jump.”

Directed by Steven S. DeKnight, Pacific Rim: Uprising is set to be released on February 23, 2018.
