The Boys Lord of the Rings John Noble

The Boys season two will explore Billy Butcher’s family as Lord of the Rings star John Noble has joined the cast of the Amazon series.

While fans continue to be wowed by Amazon’s The Boys week-by-week, the series still has plenty more secrets up its sleeves as it races towards the finish-line. Karl Urban, Billy Butcher himself, recently revealed that Lord of the Rings star John Noble joins the seventh episode of The Boys for a Butcher family reunion. Fans will obviously remember that Urban and John Noble appeared together in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Noble played Denethor the mad Steward of Gondor, while Urban portrayed Éomer, a leader of the Riders of Rohan.

Karl Urban posted a photo of himself alongside Lord of the Rings star John Noble during filming of The Boys season two, teasing what’s ahead for Billy Butcher in the next episode. Most recently it was announced that a spin-off focusing on College students with superpowers has been greenlit by Amazon. Urban teased fans that John Noble is a “brutal force of nature” in the role of Billy Butcher’s Dad, Sam. Take a look at Urban and John Noble below.

Here is the official synopsis for the second season of The Boys:

The even more intense, more insane season two finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.
