Solo: A Star Wars Story composer John Powell has revealed that, in addition to the work that John Williams has done in giving the title character his own theme, there will be 5 other major compositions to add to the Galaxy Far, Far Away’s track record of memorable themes.

Talking to fans on Facebook, Powell explained that fans should expect quite a bit from Solo‘s soundtrack:

“In addition to John Williams’ brilliant tune for Han, I got five new themes + many other motifs/riffs joining the Galaxy Far, Far Away in Solo: A Star Wars Story!”

That’s quite a lot! Considering that the movie is meant to be a standalone, there seems to be a lot of focus on fleshing out these characters — which ought to be a smart move if Solo ends up being as good as the stellar ad campaign has made it look and gets a sequel/spin-off or two.

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is scheduled for a May 25, 2018 release. The film’s cast includes Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Joonas Suotamo, Paul Bettany, Ian Kenny, Warwick Davis, and Jon Favreau.
