A very talented Instagram artist imagines how Common could look as Green Lantern Corps member, John Stewart.
It has been a few years since Warner Bros. and DC first announced they were in the process of putting together a Green Lantern Corps movie. While there has not been any new official news regarding the project, fans have crafted their own visions of the movie.
Earlier today, artist Skull101ify posted to Instagram his interpretation of what Common might look like as the Green Lantern John Steward. The rapper was initially cast in the role of Stewart in George Miller’s Justice League Mortal before the film got canned by Warner Bros. mere weeks before principal photography was set to begin.
Check out the artist’s concept art below:

John Stewart has a rich history in the comics beginning with his initial conception by creators Dennis O’Neil and Neal Adams. In the comics, John Stewart was a U.S. Marine chosen to be the backup Green Lantern to Hal Jordan after the initial backup, Guy Gardner, was seriously injured. As for this particular design, Common looks good in the suit. Common is also a solid actor in his own right, so seeing him in the role of John Stewart for the supposed Green Lantern Corps movie might actually be fun.
While there has not been any new news on Green Lantern Corps for some time, the project was never officially canned either. With the current DC Universe seemingly on the path to success, the chances of it actually coming to a theater near you can only get better. The latest DC Universe film, Aquaman, is currently in theaters.
