You all read that headline correctly. The Walking Dead‘s own Norman Reedus has Johnny Depp’s decapitated head in his dressing room. Creepy, right? Well, when put into some context, maybe not so much.
During the season six episode of The Walking Dead titled Not Tomorrow Yet, there was a scene that featured several zombified heads. Two of the most noteworthy heads included one that looked like the show’s director, Greg Nicotero, and another that actually appeared to resemble actor Johnny Depp. Nicotero commented on why they decided to mold one of the heads after the famous actor:
“I think we had sculpted an emaciated version of a dummy head for something and we used Johnny Depp’s head as a basis just for a clay sculpt. I think one of the funniest moments we’ve shot in the season is when the Savior sticks his hand inside the head and puppeteers it to start talking. I laughed so hard when we shot that scene.”
Reedus apparently jumped at the opportunity to claim Depp’s severed head:
“Norman [Reedus] kept saying he wanted the heads when we were done shooting. I said we’ve got to wait until the picture is logged,”
