‘Iron Fist’ Actor Johnny Yang Gives Better Look At Classic Costume

Iron Fist Marvel Comics

UPDATE: The photo has been pulled down at the request of Marvel.

I have yet to start Iron Fist, and after the reviews I am pretty hesitant to do so. Even without watching anything I have heard the news that (SPOILER) Danny Rand does not ever put on one of his various costumes in the show. While disappointing, apparently there is a scene that at least provides a little Easter Egg to the green and yellow costume.

In a black and white scene that showed a previous iteration of the Iron Fist, the mask and costume looks extremely close to the original costume that Danny Rand wears in the comics. Unfortunately, this footage is grainy and not colored, but thanks to actor Johnny Yang, we do get a better look at what could have been.

In a now deleted post on Instagram, Yang posed with other soldiers on the battlefield and captioned the photo with “The day it was just the IronFist brothers. #ironfist #asians #stunts #hitzinternational.” Look at a screen capture of the post below:

How do you like this retro suit? I think the mask looks pretty sharp. I would’ve been more than okay with just the mask and street clothes in the present day. But, maybe The Defenders will provide Danny  a little more incentive to don a traditional superhero costume.

Fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.

Iron Fist is available for stream on Netflix right now. Don’t forget to come back to Heroic Hollywood for news on the rest of The Defenders.
