Joker Joaquin Phoenix Arkham

Earlier today, filmmaker Todd Phillips shared an official screen test of Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck in the upcoming DC Comics film, Joker. The screen test gave fans their first look at Phoenix donning the iconic clown makeup for the first time.

Now, with an official design featuring Phoenix’s likeness in the Joker makeup, fans are now using their artistic sensibilities using the brief image and putting their own spin on it. Now, we have this artist who created his own poster for Joker. It features Arthur Fleck in his normal civilian outfit as he looks behind to see a brick wall featuring massive graffiti art of his face splattered in clown makeup.

You can check out the fan poster below:

We don’t know too much about the plot of the film, but it is said to be separate from the current canon of the DC Extended Universe and will be an elseworld’s take on the Clown Prince of crime. It is also described to be “an exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.”

Are you excited to see how the film turns out? Sound off in the comments below, and be sure to continue following Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news about Joker and the upcoming slate from DC Films.

Warner Bros. is looking to tap into Scorsese classics such as Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, with the film set in a gritty and grounded 1980s Gotham City. Todd Phillips is directing the standalone piece, which is said to be separate from the DC Extended Universe in an effort to create new and unique storylines to expand the canon.

Phillips also wrote the script with Scott Silver, the man behind the 2002 drama film 8 Mile starring Eminem. The project is said to focus on the Clown Prince of Crime as a failed 1980s comedian who becomes The Joker after bombing with audiences.

Opening in theaters on October 4, 2019, Joker also stars Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Brett Cullen, Bryan Callen and Robert De Niro.
