‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Director Shares Photos Of Joaquin Phoenix & Lady Gaga As Filming Wraps

Fans of the Joker and Harley Quinn have reason to celebrate as new photos of Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in their respective roles have been shared by the director of the highly-anticipated DC Comics movie Joker: Folie à Deux. Todd Phillips, who is behind the Joker sequel, took to Instagram to share the two photos and announced that the project has wrapped filming.

The new images showcase Joaquin Phoenix in his role as the Joker, also known as the Clown Prince of Crime, and Lady Gaga as his love interest and sidekick Harley Quinn. The photos give fans a glimpse of what they can expect from the movie, which is set to be an origin story for Harley Quinn.

Joker followed Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck as he transformed into the Clown Prince of Crime and Folie á Deux now looks set to show Harleen Quinzel following him into madness, with Lady Gaga playing the DC Comics villain. Phoenix earned an Oscar for his work as The Joker.

What can audiences expect from the Joker sequel?

After the first film ended with Arthur Fleck in Arkham State Hospital, it’s likely that – as in previous iterations – Harleen Quinzel will start out as the Joker’s psychiatrist. Plot details are being kept under wraps but the a significant chunk of the sequel is expected to take place in Arkham.

Todd Phillips is directing Joker: Folie à Deux from a script he co-wrote alongside Scott Silver, who also worked on the original. Production is currently underway for an October 2024 release.

The cast of Folie à Deux also features Brendan Gleeson, Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland and Harry Lawtey.
