An excited fan snapped an image of a Gotham City police car spotted on the set of DC’s Joker, which is set to hit theaters next October.
Joker may be one of DC’s most intriguing films set for release next year because it’s such an out-of-left-field choice for a solo movie, as opposed to Shazam! or Wonder Woman 1984. Given that the film is set to release in almost exactly one year from today, it’s particularly shocking that fans have been shown so much footage of Joaquin Phoenix in the role. The latest set photo from the film may not be as exciting as a mob of mask-wearing Gothamites attacking someone in a subway, but it gives an awesome look at the new version of Gotham that the film will take place in.
Due to the film focusing on the most iconic comic book villain of all time, it’s no surprise to see that the police force will have some presence in the film. As fans have seen in films like The Dark Knight and various appearances in comics over the decades, the Joker is an agent of chaos and has a good ole’ time bringing that chaos right to the front steps of the Gotham City police department. Check out the photos below to see what the boys in blue will be driving around in Gotham City when Joker hits theaters next year.

It seems that some fans still, understandably, aren’t sold on the concept of Joker headlining his own movie. If you’re a die-hard Joker fan worried about his portrayal by Phoenix, don’t worry because this film will have nothing to do with the DC canon created by Man of Steel and beyond. The one-off period piece will be a new take on the villain and is seemingly planned to be a one-and-done role for Phoenix but as any fan knows, when something is a big enough hit then anything can happen.
Right now, there have been no plans announced for Batman or Bruce Wayne to appear anywhere in the film but Bruce’s father, Thomas Wayne, is seemingly an important part in the story and will be played by The Dark Knight Rises star Brett Cullen. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Joker as more information becomes available. Are you looking forward to Joker? Do you think Phoenix is a good fit for the role? “Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
Directed by Todd Phillips from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, Shea Whigham, and Robert De Niro.
Joker will be released in theaters on October 4, 2019.
