Just Jared has revealed the first batch of set photos from Todd Philip’s Joker, featuring Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character.
Shooting on the film is now underway in New York City. It stars Phoenix as the titular villain, presumably as he descends into madness and becomes the iconic thorn in Batman’s side. Very little is known about the actual plot of the film, but these set photos do help inform us as to who the Joker will be when the film begins.

While none of these photos show Phoenix in full makeup and costume, we now see who the Joker was before becoming the villain. He looks pretty normal, but seeing him messing around with this creepy clown on the street makes him appear a little unhinged.
So, what do you think? Do these Joker images get you any more excited for the film? Did they make you lose interest? Let us know down in the comments!
The film also stars Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham.
“Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
Joker hits theaters October 4, 2019
