Joker Has Run-In With Police In New Set Photos For Todd Phillips’ Film

Joker Joaquin Phoenix

Remember back in The Dark Knight when the Joker got his hands on a police cruiser? He stuck his head out of the window like a dog and he seemed to be having the time of his life. Indeed, if there’s one thing the Joker enjoys in Gotham City, besides toying with the Batman, it’s toying with Gotham City’s finest. The same appears to be the case for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker in Todd Phillips’ upcoming standalone film surrounding the Batman villain.

There have been quite a number of set photos that have been made available to the public for the Todd Phillips Joker film, and while some may call it spoilers, other see it as free advertisement. Like Shazam!, if the photos are out there, it’s publicity for the film that just builds more anticipation for when the studio, director, or those involved decide to release official stills, photos, and videos from the aforementioned movie. Such is the case with a batch of photos from Digital Spy that show the Joker in a nasty run-in with Gotham’s finest.

And by run-in, I mean that quite literally, as the set photos show Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker sprawled on top of a police cruiser in what looks like the aftermath of a nasty car crash or accident. It’s difficult to say just exactly what’s happening since there’s no context for the pictures. Hard to believe that this would be the final moment shown on display, though even if it was, we wouldn’t know that because, again, we don’t know the context of the photos themselves and where this moment takes place in the film. Here, have a look at some of the photos in the tweet below:

Hopefully this Joker didn’t have a nasty fall from a gargoyle statue like Jack Nicholson did in the 1989 Batman film. And, in a way, it’s very reminiscent of the pose that Jerome was in when he fell to his death in an episode from the fourth season of Gotham. But what do you think’s happening here? What kind of crazy shenanigans has the Joker gotten himself into with these photos? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned for more updates on the Todd Phillips/Joaquin Phoenix Joker film.

Directed by Todd Phillips, Joker will be released on October 4, 2019. The cast includes Joaquin Phoenix, Marc Maron, Glenn Fleshler, Shea Whigham, Zazie Beetz, Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Josh Pais, and Brett Cullen.
