Jonah Hill has the choice of playing The Riddler or Penguin in Robert Pattinson’s The Batman.
News broke earlier today that Jonah Hill is in early negotiations to join Robert Pattinson’s Batman movie from Matt Reeves, but it was unknown what role he would play. According to THR, Jonah Hill and Warner Bros. haven’t actually decided if he will play The Penguin or The Riddler. Jonah Hill has had the offer to join The Batman for over a month now and while the character he’s playing is one of the reasons he hasn’t officially signed on yet, another reason is his payout for the movie. The actor reportedly wants to be paid $10 million for the role which is more than what Robert Pattinson will make to play Batman.
The Penguin and The Riddler have long been rumored to be the main villains of The Batman and now it looks like we may have our guy for at least one of those roles. What do you think? Should Jonah Hill play The Riddler or The Penguin?
Details for the Robert Pattinson-led Batman project are being kept under lock and key. Previous rumors once pointed to an earlier version of the script featuring Ben Affleck bookending the film as his current Batman while the film introduced Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader in his earlier years. But with Ben Affleck officially retired from the role, Robert Pattinson is replacing the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League star as Batman.
We know that Matt Reeves’ The Batman will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and feature a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that reportedly includes Catwoman and The Penguin. Reeves has also confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s acclaimed Year One comic and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC Films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new movie trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.
The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021. Stay tuned for the latest news on Jonah Hill, Robert Pattinson, The Penguin, The Riddler and the future of the DC Extended Universe!
