Jordan Elsass will not be returning as Jonathan Kent for Season 3 of The CW’s Superman & Lois, with the role set to be recast.
Superman & Lois follows Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman, originally introduced in Supergirl, and Elizabeth Tulloch’s Lois Lane as they raise their two sons, Jonathan (Elsass) and Jordan (Alex Garfin). The series has seen Jonathan and Jordan coming to terms with the discovery that their father is Superman.
Jordan Elsass has played a leading role in Superman & Lois since the series began, but recently confirmed he would not return for Season 3.
A New Jonathan Kent
Jordan Elsass has confirmed that he will not be returning for the next season of Superman & Lois due to personal reasons. Warner Bros. TV has confirmed his role will be recast.
The decision to replace Jordan Elsass was made when the actor hadn’t reported back to work on the series by the cast’s deadline for reconvening in Vancouver, where production is based for Superman & Lois. The actor since confirmed to the studio that he did not intend to return to the series.
While Warner Bros. TV has confirmed these details of the situation concerning Jordan Elsass, there has been no official comment made by the actor himself. Sources claim the departure may be related to issues concerning his mental health.
A report from Deadline notes that there has been conflicting information over whether Jordan Elsass left of his own volition or was let go from the DC series. There has not yet been any word on who might replace the actor as Jonathan Kent for the upcoming third season of Superman & Lois.
