‘Deadpool 2’: Josh Brolin’s Cable Training Is Really Paying Off

Deadpool 2 Josh Brolin Cable Ryan Reynolds

Josh Brolin will go down in comic book movie history as a Marvel legend. Audiences already know him as Thanos within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he will finally wield the Infinity Gauntlet in Avengers: Infinity War next year, but he will also leave his mark on another beloved Marvel character: Nathan Summers aka Cable.

Brolin will play Cable alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson in the highly-anticipated sequel, Deadpool 2. It is exciting to see what type of comedic dynamic both Brolin and Reynolds will share onscreen together, but one thing is certainly guaranteed: Brolin’s physical presence onscreen will more-than give Cable justice.

For any major role in a modern comic book movie, actors and actresses dedicate themselves to put in all the physical training needed to be in the best shape they can be onscreen. In fact, Cable is a particular character that requires the actor portraying him to bulk up to exhibit his physical intimidation to audiences.

Luckily, Brolin’s training is really paying off – which should leave fans at ease. Recently, the Academy Award-nominee shared a photo on his Instagram account showing off his progress:

With David Leitch behind the camera for Deadpool 2, seeing both Wade Wilson and Nathan Summers in the action may even surpass some of the entertaining set-pieces from the first film. Leitch’s work on films such as John Wick and Atomic Blonde are a testament to how he can craft some incredible sequences. Thankfully, with Brolin and Reynolds’s range, the combination of director and actors could be a match made in Heaven.
