Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four movie is quickly gaining momentum. Deadline reports that Julia Garner has signed on to play Shalla-Bal, a Marvel character seemingly taking over the role of the Silver Surfer.

Created by Stan Lee and John Buscema, Shalla-Bal made her first comic book appearance in 1968’s Silver Surfer #1, embodying the role of the Empress of Zenn-La, a utopian planet nestled in the Deneb System of the Milky Way. In the pages of Marvel comics, Shalla-Bal is the lover of Norrin Radd, who transforms into the Silver Surfer upon agreeing to serve Galactus in exchange for the safety of their home world.

Julia Garner is best known for her work as Ruth Langmore in the Netflix crime drama series Ozark. Her portrayal earned her widespread critical acclaim, securing three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, alongside a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. Beyond Ozark, Garner’s resume includes television series such as The Americans, Maniac, Dirty John, and Inventing Anna.

What we know about the Fantastic Four movie
