Marvel Studios has found its Captain America 4 director in Julius Onah, with the filmmaker taking over the series from the Russo Brothers and Joe Johnston.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that The Cloverfield Paradox helmer Julius Onah has signed on to direct Captain America 4 for Marvel Studios. Anthony Mackie is reprising his role as Sam Wilson, with the character once again suiting up as Captain America following the events of Avengers: Endgame and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
Captain America 4 is being written by Malcolm Spellman, the head writer of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Spellman is working on the script alongside Dalan Musson, a staff writer from the Disney Plus series. The film currently has no start date.
Where does Captain America 4 find Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson?
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier ended with Sam Wilson embracing the role of Captain America after reluctantly accepting the mantle from Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans) at the end of Avengers: Endgame. It’s expected that Captain America 4 will pick up right after the events of the six-episode series, which ended its run in August 2021.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier:
Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience—in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.”
